And the end of summer marked the end...

The boat finally made its first voyage...

And it was a great day.  And the summer days after that day were wonderful.
But without the boat to work, on my love lost his way...and we lost our way.  We are no longer together.

We also lost our brave dog Boogie.  The big lab in the picture.  He succumbed to cancer and diabetes. I miss him horribly.

So the boat adventure is over and  the boat will go on craigslist this month since it is now in the garage taking up space.

The time we had working on the boat was good times.  Don't you wish the good times would last forever?

While the boat is being worked on...

Well, both Jay and I are very handy.  He is the good kind of handy and I am the glue gun kind of handy.  As I have said, we have much more love than money.  So we have to be frugal.  I spend alot of time on pinterest trying to find tips on how to make my home livable for less money...yep, cheap!  LOL

Here are some of my recent projects
The first one is a hand painted rug made from a $5 piece of canvas.  The bed skirt is made from a $1.98 sheet from GoodWill.  Stapled to the bedframe.

This is a steal from a high end store.  Canvas, elmers glue, paint...Paris, the eiffel tower and a paris map

This is the extra bedroom.  Made up for Jay's youngest girl.  98 cent sheet is the bed skirt.  The curtain was made with 50 cents worth of fabric.

This is on the wall of the same bedroom.  A $1.99 wooden box.  Painted, the left over fabric decoupaged on it.  This is a shelf for girlie things.

This next one is an old torn canvas.  Covered in batting and $1 worth of fabric, then $1 worth of ribbon stapled across the fabric.  Old cards and memories slipped under the ribbon.

Ahhh...and my favorite.  I had an old easel that the top was broken.  It had been a cast off of a friend of mine.  I was getting ready to toss it when I realized it would make an interesting side table.  Took the broken pieces off and there you go!

The home we rent have lovely built ins but they look a little plain.  The idea solution would be to paint but we cant do that.  So I took pieces of cardboard, cut them to fit in the slots and covered them in left over fabric...probably about $.50.  They brighten up the built ins without paint.  The rest of the items are goodwill and yard sale item...all under a dollar.

And finally a wall that just need a little color...a little fabric, a little ribbon and you have color.

So many summer days...

The last month has been so busy.  We are summer people so we enjoy the hot days and wonderful warm evenings.

Jay continued to work on the boat and I continued to work on making our house a home.  Both of us were busy.

So to catch you up....Jay got a motor but it needed some help.  So why that was being straightened out he finished the boat.  And it is so amazing.  I am so proud of my man!  It has been a long process but an amazing journey.  Now hoping the motor is ready soon so we can get out on the water!!!

I hope everybody is enjoying the summer weather.  It has been HOT!!!!  But Jay is a trooper and the painting is complete.  YEAH!!!!
I have been working on the seats...almost finished.  Will post those pictures at the end of the weekend.
For Jay's birthday, he got a coupon from me for 1/2 of a boat motor up to $200.  Well, Jay being thrifty and smart, found one for $250.  LOL  He was looking for a good motor that he could fix up and make a great motor.  He finally found it!
Also, the carpet I got on sale last week is finally going in.

Wonderful summer weekend....

Well last week was a busy week for us.  We had a birthday and an anniversary..well and lots of work on the boat.  I did force a non-work day on Sunday so we could spend some time on the beach.

The beach was hot and sunny!

but more importantly the red paint is on the boat!  Purchases this week included discount carpet for the deck (gray $20) and life jackets on sale for $5 and a few other inexpensive items.  The boat is looking absolutely amazing.  The painting will be done this week.  And seats and carpet will begin.

While Jay was busy with the boat, I worked on a couple projects myself.  Pillows for the couch and a calendar for the house.  A little plexi, an old large frame, car detail tape, and a little paint and we now have a center for appointments and messages in the hall in our home.  Liquid chalk and a white board pen attached by ribbon makes updating easier.  A mail station will go up next to this.  I have the parts just need to paint!

Happy Birthday to you!!!!

Today is Jay's birthday!  Happy Birthday!!!

And being Jay, he will spend the day in the garage with the boat.  Also hopefully he will get to spend time with his best friend and do all the things he loves to do.  The boat looks great and he should be very proud.

I hope the next year is the best year yet for my sea loving man!!!

And of course being Jay, he wanted a birthday pie instead of a birthday cake.  So there is a peach pie and a blueberry crumble pie waiting for him tonight!

When you can't work on the boat..how about....

When Jay is working on the boat or can't work on the boat due to weather or waiting on things to dry, we find plenty of other projects to keep us busy.  All the projects are from low cost items or no cost items.  The more time you spend at the Goodwill, dollar store or yard sales...the more amazing things you find!

The first project was adding a curtain to my office storage.  $1 in fabric, a tension rod, and glue :-)  Now all my clutter is out of site.

Another project is a pair of old wood shutters.  The paint was bad and the shutters were very dirty.  There are some places that are broken but hey, these were a free find.  A little cleaning (thanks Jay) and painting by me and we have a head board.

I'll get more pictures of the bedroom as things settle.  We have alot of projects that we did for the bedroom.

The lamps were very ugly 70's lamps in a beige with ugly shade.  Paid 8 dollars for the lamps, sprayed them white and sprayed the shade a beachy color.

We love them.
I will upload some pictures of the table it is sitting on soon..a revamp of a 10 dollar country table :-)

Then this weekend I took some time and made a wreath.  Another inexpensive dollar store fun item.

There are tons of more projects coming.  The list gets added to everyday!
